About Karuah
At the north-western corner of Port Stephens, where the Karuah River flows into the port, Karuah is an oyster village on the old Pacific Highway with rural properties all around it. The river runs roughly north to south through the locality and marks the line between Port Stephens and Mid-Coast councils, and nearly the whole village is on the Port Stephens side. The name is thought to mean native plum tree.
