Drain locating and pipe tracing in Newcastle
Before you dig, build or plant, it helps to know where the pipes are. We send a transmitter through your drains, follow it from above with a receiver and mark the route, the depth and any faults on the ground.

The short answer
Drain locating uses a small transmitter, called a sonde, on the front of a drain camera or rod. As it travels through the pipe, a handheld receiver on the surface picks up its signal, so we can mark where the pipe runs, roughly how deep it is and exactly where a fault sits. It works on clay, fibre cement and plastic pipes that metal detectors cannot find.
