The short answer
A dishwasher needs its own isolating valve, a certified inlet hose, and a drain hose looped up high before it joins the sink waste or a standpipe, so dirty water can't siphon back. The machine is then levelled and fixed into the cavity. Under NSW licensing, installing an appliance that conveys water is water plumbing, so a licensed plumber connects it.
