About Brightwaters
Tinned fish and sugar cane were the early industries at Brightwaters, on the peninsula east of Morisset and the western shore of Lake Macquarie. The sugar cane mill built here was lost to a bushfire in 1875. Much later the suburb had its own post office, which opened in 1963 and closed in 1979.
