About Edgeworth
Edgeworth was Cocked Hat Creek in the 1870s and Young Wallsend from 1885, and coal came early: the Young Wallsend Coal Company opened its colliery in 1890, with a post office and a school following in 1891. The suburb lies about 14 km west of Newcastle city in the City of Lake Macquarie, between Cameron Park, Glendale, Argenton, Barnsley and Holmesville.
