About Morisset
Major James Thomas Morisset camped here in 1823 on the first overland journey south from Newcastle, and the town carries his name. Little stood here until the railway came through in 1887, when Morisset sprang into being as a sawmill town around the station. Today it is a commercial centre west of the lake, just off the M1 Pacific Motorway and roughly halfway between Gosford and Newcastle.
