If your property has a testable backflow device, Hunter Water requires it to be tested every year by an accredited tester and the result registered. We test the device, repair it if it fails and look after the registration.

The short answer
Testable backflow devices, the double check valves and reduced pressure zone devices fitted to medium and high hazard properties, must be tested after installation and then every year by an accredited tester, and registered with Hunter Water. The owner is responsible for the annual test. Most homes on a standard 20 or 25 mm meter have a built-in low hazard device and need no separate test.
