The short answer
Backflow is water flowing the wrong way, from a property back into the drinking water supply. Every property on Hunter Water's supply must be risk assessed and have the right containment device. Homes on a 20 or 25 mm Hunter Water meter with a low hazard rating are covered by the device built into the meter. Medium and high hazard properties need a testable device, tested every year.
